Dr Wang gained his PhD at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, following his Batchelors and Masters degrees at the Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Following 5 years of study, he specialised in acupuncture, joining a clinical and experimental research programme on acupuncture treatment as a means of reactivating white blood cells in cancer patients following chemotherapy. This programme was awarded first place in the Provincial Science and Technology Traditional Chinese Medicine awards, Henan Province in 1996.

Following his PhD, he worked in the Shanghai Ruijin Hospital and the Shanghai Second Medical University as Head of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.  He joined the Institute of Chinese Medicine in 2004.

Dr Wang is registered as a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Westminster City Council.
