Chinese
Herbal Medicine
With
around 11,000 herbs, minerals and animal by-products in use,
the rich experience accumulated by Chinese doctors in the use
of herbs has helped treat many common illnesses. More recently,
Western medical doctors have begun to realise and recognise
the high value of these preparations, not just for day-to-day
disorders, but also for more serious problems, including many
forms of cancer, multiple sclerosis (MS), AIDS, paediatric conditions
and, notably, dermatology. Clinical trials have led to the adoption
of a number of product releases from the major pharmaceutical
manufacturers, and to the production of pre-packaged creams,
pills, ointments, poultices and salves. Herbs may be supplied
uncooked or pre-cooked to suit specific individual needs.
